Kara M. Sullivan, MD

is a pediatrician who is occasionally "on-call" for our practice. Dr. Sullivan graduated from Marquette University in 1998 with a degree in anthropology. She spent two years working on health care issues for U.S. Senator Tom Daschle in Washington, DC before returning to her home state of South Dakota for medical school. She then moved to the Twin Cities for her combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. She has completed a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology (liver disease) and nutrition also at the University of Minnesota. During that time, she completed course work for a Master's degree in clinical research and presented her findings about liver disease in patients with cystic fibrosis, and quality of life in long- term (over 20 years) survivors of liver transplantation at national meetings. Dr. Sullivan has decided to complete additional training in adult gastroenterology at the University of Minnesota so that she can specialize in adolescents and young adults with chronic gastrointestinal disorders. She enjoys cycling, cooking and spending her time with her two young daughters, two dogs and husband.
