Pamela N. Richards Bloomquist, MD

Dr. Pamela Richards Bloomquist grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and attended college and medical school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Washington University in St. Louis, which is affiliated with St. Louis Children's Hospital. She stayed an additional year at St. Louis Children's Hospital to serve as Chief Resident. Upon completing her training, she joined a private pediatric practice in a suburb of St. Louis, where she practiced general pediatrics until moving to Minnesota in 2003. She has been a pediatrician at Park Nicollet Clinic in Eagan from 2003 through 2011, and joined Mendakota Pediatrics in September 2011.

Dr. Bloomquist enjoys providing preventive care for children from infancy to young adulthood. She sees her role as a pediatrician not just to provide medical care and advice, but to encourage and empower parents to make informed decisions for their children. She especially enjoys caring for newborns and premature infants, and for children with developmental and behavioral challenges. She also cares for children with complex or chronic medical disorders, coordinating care with pediatric subspecialists as needed. She strives to truly listen to patients and their parents, and to provide up-to-date medical information in response to concerns or questions.

Dr. Bloomquist particularly values the concept of the "medical home" in which the physicians, nurses and support staff truly know their patients and their families well and can respond to their needs in a much more knowledgeable way than can occur in large clinics. Dr. Bloomquist lives in Mendota Heights with her husband, Dave, and their combined family of four children: Matt (13), Megan (10), Olivia (10) and Ella (8). In her spare time (when she's not watching her kids play sports or perform at school!) she enjoys reading, running, cooking, and gardening.
